All Terrain Vehicles Are Bad For Your Health
October 31, 2008 by storeman
They say no news is good news and in the case of ATVs that may well be true.
The whole purpose of the Go Outdoor Sports site is to encourage people to do just that. Get outdoors, enjoy the scenery and partake in some form of sporting activity that they can really become passionate about.
Heck, we even have a number of stores including a used atv store where you can pick up some new, but in the main, nearly new and used gear at prices that make trying out a new outdoor sport affordable.
But I digress. Getting out in the country by ATV is just a wonderful and fun experience. In fact, it's hard to imagine having a more enjoyable day. Throw in some fishing equipment and a remote lake and it's paradise (for me at least).
By now, you may be wondering where my starting line comes into play so let's keep you waiting no longer. Search online for the latest ATV news and all you see are headlines such as:
- Fatal ATV rollovers not rare
- ATVs have little or no health benefits
- ATV Accidents continue to rise
- Investigating ATV death
- Teenager dies from ATV Accident
Now there is nothing new here. The press is what it is and bad news sells (apparently). What I hope and pray is that such headlines would not stop you from having a go.
The fact of the matter is it is not the ATV that causes 99% of injuries or problems but the person. Because ATVs are fast relative to the terrain they travel some people think they should ramp it up like Dale Earnhardt Jr with none of the experience. Go figure the result.
Go on a trip with an experienced friend or guide and you'll seen discover what a joy a days ATV riding can be and I know which I prefer.
So forget about the headlines and realise that it is a perfectly safe recreational activity that can be enjoyed by anyone once they have gained some riding experience.
